ARCO/Murray Engineering is currently looking for a highly motivated Steel Detailing Project Manager, with previous experience using Tekla Structures, to join our team based in our Downers Grove, IL. office.  The Steel Detailing Project Manager will be responsible for creating 3D models and developing fabrication-level information in support of a wide range of construction projects.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Accurately interpret construction documents
  • Develop fabrication level information early in the design process based upon feedback and coordination with internal engineering and construction team members
  • Coordination of models from various trades (HVAC, MEP, etc.) for clash detection and coordination 
  • Create 3D models utilizing Tekla from early design information and construction documents
  • Prepare and modify shop drawings including erection, assembly, and part drawings for the purposes of fabrication utilizing Tekla 3D modeling software
  • Manipulate existing models and drawings as needed
  • Check models through in-model review and report creation
  • Manage multiple projects at once and guide Steel Detailers through the process of modeling those projects
  • Interface with company stakeholders, clients, or subcontractors as required (i.e. increased responsibility toward overall success of the construction job)
  • Continuing education through a combination of in-house and company-funded external training

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree in computer aided drafting or related field
  • 5 - 10 years of steel detailing experience using Tekla Structures or SDS/2
  • Concrete detailing and wood framing detailing a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter, motivated with the ability to start and finish a project on time
  • Ability to organize, plan and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results
  • Programming experience such as Visual Studio or Python is a plus, experience with visual scripting such as Grasshopper is a plus, experience with APIs (Tekla Open API or others) is also a plus
  • Computer skills: 3D Modeling Software (Tekla, SDS/2, or similar), proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook
