ARCO/Murray Engineering is currently seeking a Cleanroom Design Engineer to join our internal design team based in Downers Grove, IL.  The Cleanroom Design Engineer will play a key role in both the pursuit and delivery of design/build cleanroom projects across a variety of industries including life sciences, laboratory, renewable energy, semi-conductor, healthcare, food & beverage, controlled environment agriculture, and more.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Develop cleanroom designs and mechanical equipment capacity calculations to support the sale, estimating, and execution of design/build projects; including layout, HVAC and filtration system design, and contamination/environmental control measure recommendations  
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, design engineers, and other vendors to ensure compliance with specific client requirements as well as industry standards
  • Participate in the selection, validation and procurement of clean room equipment, including air handling units, filters, particle counters, and monitoring devices
  • Conduct performance testing and ensure proper calibration and maintenance of equipment upon installation and/or project turnover
  • Prepare documentation, including design specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and validation reports. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment calibrations, and environmental monitoring data

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial or related-engineering discipline with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in clean room design, operation, or management. Experience in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food & beverage production, or electronics manufacturing is preferred  
  • Must be familiar with clean room classifications (ISO 14644) and understand regulatory guidelines (FDA cGMP, EU GMP Annex 1).
  • Experience with clean room validation and qualification processes is preferred
  • Experience working in both Autocad and Revit for facility design required
  • EIT certification and/or Professional Engineering (PE) licensure preferred
